Finding Profitable Affiliate Products To Promote

The first and most important step when thinking about getting started with affiliate marketing is choosing the right niche and the right products to promote.

This choice can impact the overall performance of your affiliate efforts.

It all boils down to choosing a niche and the products that have enough of a demand on the market to sustain your business and enable its growth.

Affiliate niches that have been the most popular ones for years now, bringing in the most money are health, dating and making money online. You could say that these are evergreen since they’ve been at the very top since forever, and no one predicted that this is likely to change anytime soon.

Since these niches are quite enormous, there a lot of sub niches available. This can come in handy if you don’t exactly hit the bullseye with the choice of product to promote. You could still end up making money, though not nearly as much as you would if you were to choose a product that’s in high demand.

I’ll be devoting this blog post to showing you how to choose some products that sell amazingly well on ClickBank, though you could use most of these techniques to find good products on other affiliate network platforms as well.

Finding The Right Niche

The three niches I mentioned previously are not the only ones that can bring you money.

It’s important to keep that in mind because it’s crucial not to force yourself into choosing a niche that doesn’t really interest you; especially one that you don’t have a knack for.

Remember that you need to plan ahead, as you will be here in the long run. If you choose something that you are not passionate about, or something you find excruciatingly dull, there’s a chance that you might end up disliking your job.

For that reason, it’s not only smart, but it’s a great advantage to choose a niche that interests you or one with which you have some prior experience.

Think of your previous jobs, hobbies, and interests. Now, think of some pain points that you could be addressing. It can be some completely unusual solution or a perfectly ordinary one. It doesn’t really matter. What matters is that the market isn’t oversaturated with that product and that it would generate enough sales to ensure a sizable profit.

Another good strategy is to include your family and friends in the thought process. Ask them if there’s some pain point in their life and how they think it should be addressed.

Then, once you have learned about the pain points, you could come up with an idea for a product you could be promoting.

Another tip I have for you, one I had to learn the hard way, is that it’s always best to choose the niches that could have multiple related products for you to promote. The more you can offer, the more competitive you’ll be on the market, and the more sales can be coming in.

For example, a home decoration niche lends itself extremely well to related products since there’s a variety of items one could promote for home decoration and home furnishing.

Doing Product Research

The next step would be to do product research and see if these products have potential.

There are plenty of ways to figure out if the products you’re considering to promote will have a momentum and if they will sell well enough.

Namely, you have Google’s own tools that are free to use and offer relevant and reliable information. This is due to the fact that most people worldwide use Google as their default search engine.

Google Trends and Google AdWords’ Keyword Planner are tools that can give you a lot of insight into search patterns of a certain product. Both are easy enough to use and can give you a pretty good idea of how well certain products will perform.

If it turns out that the products you were considering have a low chance of success, then you have to go back to the drawing board and get those cogs turning again.

Another option is to consult ClickBank and their measuring system on how well the products are performing. The unit that they use is called gravity, and it shows product’s performance based on recent sales, as well as all the sales made over time.

ClickBank recommends focusing your attention on products with the gravity of 30 and above. However, this doesn’t mean that you should completely disregard those products with the gravity of 30-.

This may just mean that they are new and still haven’t had the chance to get higher scores. Many of these items could be “the next big thing” on the market.

Your ability to predict whether a product has potential or not will increase gradually with time as you get more attuned to how the whole system works.

But for those just starting out, it’s best if you play it safe and concentrate on proven-to-work items with 30+ gravity. Still, you need to remember that ignoring the less popular items puts you in danger of passing up on an opportunity that could, potentially, bring in a lot of profit.

Play Smart

The most important thing, in the beginning, is not to take risks without having the data to support your decision.

There will be plenty of opportunities for improvisation once you’re experienced and you have enough room for taking chances.

As you can see, the learning curve for this business model is quite short. Once you master it, you’ll be able to pick products to promote with ease and the profit will follow soon after.

Though the affiliate marketing business model is quite simple, it extends much further than the content of this post. If this is something you see yourself doing, then you might be interested in the course that I’ve created, called CB Affiliate Academy.
